In line with the nationwide restrictions introduced from 5 November until 2 December, sporting fixtures and activities have been suspended at College and University levels.
The following fixtures were scheduled before restrictions came into effect. These highlights were compiled from reports by The Kittbag and Varsity.
Men's Football | Week 3
In Division 2, the St Catharine’s first team faced Selwyn, last year’s Division 3 champions. Despite Zixiao Hu (2019, Natural Sciences) putting in “a man of the match performance” in defensive midfield and the team scoring two goals in the final 20 minutes, Catz were unable to find the third elusive goal to level with our opponents. The final score was 3-2 to Selwyn. (Varsity)
In Division 5, St Catharine’s II “continued right where they left off last week and thrashed Jesus III 5-0”. Fellow Dr Peter Candy (2019) earned himself man of the match. (Varsity)
Mixed Hockey | Week 4
The team “put up an excellent fight” against Corpus/Peterhouse with some great performances securing the lead for Catz, and eventually a 3-2 victory. A tough match followed with our team of six facing a full side of St John’s/Newnham players, ending with Catz 2-4 down. (Kittbag)
Men’s Hockey | Week 4
The team beat Selwyn 5-3, despite the challenge of an “embarrassing own goal” by the Kittbag’s own editor. (Kittbag)
Men’s Rugby | Week 4
The Catz team have plenty of reasons to celebrate after walking away with two wins and a draw from what is likely the last weekend of matches this term. (Kittbag)
Mixed Netball | Week 4
After a cancellation by our scheduled opponents (Wolfson), the College team managed to squeeze in “an epic showdown between light pink and dark pink” before lockdown. (Kittbag)
