St Catharine’s College traditionally awards prizes each summer in recognition of our students’ exceptional academic achievements and their significant non-academic contributions to College life. In total, in the region of £20,000 has been awarded by the College to approximately 100 students this year.
Over 60 different prize funds are maintained by the College, many of which have been generously endowed by alumni. These are awarded in addition to the prizes bestowed by the University of Cambridge and its Departments.
Dr Holly Canuto, Senior Tutor, commented, “I want to congratulate each and every student who has graduated from St Catharine’s this year – an impressive feat in itself given the exceptional circumstances that our community has overcome together in recent months. It is remarkable that so many students have been able to achieve First Class results and contribute to the College community amidst these challenges. Our prizes are intended to provide a small token of the College’s pride and help students on the path to realising their aspirations.”
Academic accomplishments
All students across all subjects and years who achieve First Class Honours have been awarded a College Scholarship to the value of £100 and a College Prize to the value of £100. Of the 361 St Catharine’s students (including those on integrated Master’s programmes) classed this year, 38% were awarded a First Class degree. Further prizes have been awarded in recognition of exceptional academic achievement in specific subjects, three examples of which are provided below.
