The Master and the Fellowship of St Catharine’s College were delighted to hear that Honorary Fellow, Mrs Rona Fairhead, has been appointed as an International Trade Minister with a life peerage.

The official statement from the Government declared that “The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Rona Fairhead CBE as an unpaid Minister of State at the Department for International Trade. This follows the recent departure from Government of Lord Price CVO.”

Mrs Fairhead was admitted to St Catharine’s in 1980 where she studied Law before being made an Honorary Fellow in 2012. Announcing her appointment, International Trade Secretary Liam Fox said: “As we forge closer trading links with new markets and respond to the massive appetite for British goods and services across different sectors, Baroness Fairhead’s focus and wealth of business experience will help us get more UK companies exporting.”

In August 2014 Mrs Fairhead became chairman of the BBC Trust, before leaving in April 2017.
