Mr Roy Chapman, Fellow Commoner (1936-2015)

Wednesday 25 November 2015

The College was very sad to learn this week of the death of Mr Roy Chapman on 22 November, at the age of 78.

Roy matriculated at St Catharine's in 1955 to read English, and after his degree trained as an accountant, eventually becoming a Senior Partner at Arthur Andersen. After he retired in 1993, he held various non-executive positions at Halifax and Eurotunnel, and was the Chairman of the Halifax Pension Fund and the AEA Technology Pension Fund. He was also very involved in College life, and was both President of the St Catharine's College Society (1994-5), and Chairman of the first Development Campaign Group. He was made a Fellow Commoner in 2005, and regularly attended events in College, including the Society Reunion last September. He will be very much missed by the St Catharine's community.

Roy's family would welcome Members of the College at his funeral in Kent on 9 December. For further details, please contact the Alumni and Development Office at alumni.office@caths.cam.ac.uk.
