St Catharine's Fellows Receive Academic Promotions

St Catharine’s is delighted to announce that three College Fellows have received academic promotions.

Dr Richard Harrison, who was a Reader in Earth Sciences has received a Professorship. Dr Harrison is the Director of Studies for Earth and Mineral Sciences at St. Catharine's, and is also the project lead for NanoPaleoMag, an ERC funded project.

Dr Michael Sutcliffe, who is the Harold Ridgeon Fellow at St Catharine’s, has also received a Professorship. Previously a Reader in Mechanics of Materials in the Engineering Department of the University, Dr Sutcliffe’s work focuses on Biomedical Engineering and Composites, leading the Bioengineering research theme in the Department of Engineering.

Dr Hazem Kandil has been promoted from University Lecturer to Reader in Political Sociology. Based in the Department of Sociology, Dr Kandil studies power relations in revolution and war, focusing on the Middle East, Western Europe, and North America. 

Master of St Catharine’s College, Professor Sir Mark Welland said “On behalf of the College I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to Fellows of the College, Dr Harrison, Dr Sutcliffe and Dr Kandil, whose academic excellence has been recognised through promotion.”
