St Catharine’s College is pleased to confirm that the Acheson-Gray Sports Day will be returning on Saturday 23 April after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The annual sports day for teams of alumni and students is held in tribute to the memory of Charles Acheson-Gray (1991, Social & Political Sciences), an avid sportsman for both St Catharine’s and the University of Cambridge who sadly passed away in 2001.
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic and public health restrictions forced the College to cancel sporting and social activities for students and alumni in both 2020 and 2021.
This year’s programme is expected to include a range of sports: cricket, football, hockey, netball, rugby and tennis. The schedule for the day will be determined by Dominic Harding (1993, Economics) based on the availability of players so alumni and students are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
To express an interest in playing, complete our online sign-up form.
The schedule and registration details for the proceeding dinner will be released in the coming weeks. The College regrets that is unable to host the dinner or celebratory drinks due to the Examination Quiet Period starting on 21 April 2022, which is designed to enable students to prepare for and sit their examinations without avoidable disruption.
