St Catharine’s is delighted to announce that over £57,000 has been awarded to students, based on the high quality of examination results and nominations submitted to Governing Body since June 2022. Awards and prizes enable St Catharine’s to recognise and reward our students for exceptional academic achievements and contributions to College life – and are given in addition to any prizes bestowed by the University of Cambridge and its Departments.
Dr Holly Canuto (2020), Senior Tutor, commented:
“Since joining St Catharine’s in early 2020, my focus has been ensuring that our students feel supported and can achieve their ambitions in the face of exceptional disruption caused by the pandemic. While our individual prizes are small tokens of the College’s pride in our students, it is important to seize every opportunity to celebrate their impressive achievements. The sheer number of prizes awarded by the College this summer is a clear indication of how our current cohort has excelled in difficult circumstances, and I have no doubt that they will continue to flourish long after they’ve graduated.”
St Catharine’s was delighted that over 170 students were eligible for a College prize and scholarship because they had received a First or Distinction in their examinations. A further group of 90 students received an award from the 60+ different prize funds maintained by the College to celebrate contributions to both academic subjects and aspects of College life. Many of these funds have been generously endowed by alumni over the years.
