Director of Studies in Physics and Astrophysics
Professor of Physics
Chiara Ciccarelli is Professor of Physics, having completed her term as the Royal Society University Research Fellow in the Department of Physics in 2022. She moved to Cambridge in 2008 to do a PhD. From 2012 to 2016 she held a Junior Research Fellowship at Gonville and Caius College. She is interested in quantum spin-effects in magnetically ordered materials. In the past years her research has focused on current-induced torques in spin-orbit coupled ferromagnets by using microwave transport techniques. She also recently setup a lab on time-domain THz emission spectroscopy to study these effects at 1000 times faster timescales.
