Dr Deepshikha Acharya is a postdoctoral researcher and affiliated lecturer in the Department of Engineering. Her research involves investigating disease biomarkers recorded non-invasively using near-infrared spectroscopy in applications ranging from sports-concussion to dementia. Her primary research is to extend the capabilities of existing spectroscopy systems to monitor characteristic changes in the brain during sleep, especially for diagnosing prodromal dementia and monitoring dementia prognosis.
She obtained her Bachelor in Engineering (BE) from Delhi University, India, in Instrumentation and Control Engineering and received her Master’s and PhD at Carnegie Mellon University, USA, in Biomedical Engineering.
