Yin-Wei (Kris) Kuo is a postdoctoral researcher at MRC-Laboratory of Molecular Biology and was an EMBO postdoctoral fellow from 2022 to 2024. He received his PhD in biophysical chemistry from Yale University in 2020. His doctoral research combined biomolecular reconstitution and mathematical modelling to investigate the dynamic regulation of cytoskeletal polymers. His research focuses on understanding the chemical and physical rules that govern the proliferation and replication of individual cells. Using archaea as a stripped-down model system, he aims to understand the working principles behind a primitive cell cycle and cell division system which can shed light on the evolutional origin of eukaryotes.
