William came up to St Catharine’s in 1992 and graduated in 1996 with a Senior Scholarship and a First Class Degree in Modern & Medieval Languages. Following his graduation, William joined UBS to pursue a career in Investment Banking, covering many of Europe’s largest financial institutions on an international basis. In 1999 he joined Bridgepoint, Europe’s leading mid-market Private Equity fund manager, investing in numerous businesses, joining the boards and managing these to successful exits. Between 2006 and 2015 William led Bridgepoint’s investment activities in their Madrid office, subsequently returning to London where he was the Lead Partner for the Financial Services and Sports Media sectors until his retirement from the firm in 2021. William is now a Non-Executive Director on a number of different boards and investor in early stage and growth businesses.
William co-chaired the St Catharine’s Campaign Advisory Group under Professor Sir Mark Welland (Master 2016–23), helping guide the 'Our College, Our Future' campaign to its successful conclusion in 2023. William is also a Trustee of the Sherborne School Foundation, and has been a Mentor in the Level 20 Foundation, focused on the promotion and development of female executive talent in the Private Equity Industry.
