A message from the Master

Wednesday 3 June 2020

Professor Sir Mark Welland, Master of St Catharine’s College, commented on the Vice-Chancellor’s message from 2 June:

“The final, distressing words of George Floyd and subsequent calls for change have been heard around the world. In order to focus attention on and amplify BME voices and experiences at this important time, I simply want to say this in solidarity: black lives matter, including at St Catharine’s. We must all listen, speak up and act to challenge the trauma, violence and injustice of historically-entrenched racism and associated abuses of power experienced on an everyday basis. The College’s ongoing commitment to inclusion requires hard work and learning from experience, current and historic, across our whole community."

In parallel with this message, St Catharine’s is actively providing support to our students in response to recent events.
