The scheme has two parts and they are open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The College can nominate either 1 student for the summer exchange and 1 for the full year programme, or 2 students for the summer exchange programme per academic year.
Part I - Summer exchange programme
Exchange period: 1 August - 28 August 2024 (4 weeks) - International Summer Vacation Course
The tuition/course fee of € 820 is waived for our student(s). Students receive a fixed stipend of € 550 in cash on arrival to support their living cost during their stay in Heidelberg for the summer school.

- a short note in support from your Director of Studies and Tutor/Postgraduate Tutor
Deadline: Sunday, 7th April 2024
Applicants will be notified about the decision of the Tutors’ Committee by 1 May 2024.
Part II - Full academic year
Exchange period: an academic year
Heidelberg University is awarding a scholarship to the student coming from St. Catharine’s (around € 800 per month); the tuition fee of € 3,000 was waived. Heidelberg to cover the fees for all German language classes (intensive, preparatory German language class (40 hours) in September, additional German language classes during the semester).
It is now also possible to attend other ‘fluency-promoting’ cultural and language courses at the international studies centre (more information can be found on the following link: https://isz.uni-heidelberg.de/e_courses.html).
The first academic term (Oct – Feb) focuses on the German language, student can take up any classes they wish in the following term (Apr – July).
British citizens in Germany will require the GHIC/EHIC (or similar) health cover and visa will also be necessary, as their stay exceeds 90 days.
